The rules for using Trovepile — accounts, subscriptions, acceptable use, and what happens when plans change.
Effective date: May 25, 2026 · Applies to: trovepile.com, the Trovepile web app, browser extension, and related services.
1. Agreement
By creating an account, installing the extension, or otherwise using Trovepile, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you use Trovepile on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Public beta
Trovepile is in a public beta. During this period:
All plan tiers may be available at no charge while billing is not yet live
Prices shown on pricing describe planned general-availability (GA) list prices, not necessarily current charges
Features, quotas, and platform availability may change as we ship toward GA
We will update these Terms and in-product messaging when paid billing goes live.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, including actions taken by collaborators you authorize.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or remain unpaid after applicable grace periods once billing is enabled.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
Use Trovepile for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
Upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, or interfere with the service
Scrape or overload our APIs beyond published quotas or fair use
Share content through Trovepile that infringes others’ intellectual property or privacy rights
Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others when inviting collaborators or publishing links
We may investigate reports of abuse and remove content or access where necessary to protect users and the platform.
5. Subscriptions & billing
Paid plans (Pro, Team, Business) unlock higher quotas and additional features as described on pricing. When billing is live:
Subscriptions start on the day you upgrade and renew on the same calendar date each cycle
Monthly and annual billing options may be offered; annual plans include a published discount
Taxes may apply depending on your location and will be shown at checkout where required
Plan changes, pauses, and retention offers are handled through Settings → Subscription in the app
Your subscription starts the day you upgrade. You are charged the full plan price on that date and again every cycle on the same calendar day. We do not pro-rate the first charge from Free because there is no prior paid balance to credit.
6. Refunds
Once paid billing is live:
Annual subscriptions: 30-day money-back guarantee on your first annual purchase. Email support@trovepile.com within 30 days for a full refund.
Monthly subscriptions: Cancel anytime; access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial months.
Refunds and cancellation are separate: refunding a charge does not automatically downgrade your plan, and canceling does not automatically refund unused time unless covered by the policy above.
When you cancel a paid subscription, you keep paid access until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, your account moves to Free entitlements.
Items above Free-tier quotas are moved to your Vault for up to 90 days (30 days in some trial-expiry cases). You can restore items if you resubscribe within the window or if your current plan has quota. After the retention period, vaulted items are permanently deleted.
Team and Business plans may allow shared workspaces, viewer/editor invites, and public links. You are responsible for:
Who you invite and what permissions you grant
Content made available through public links
Ensuring collaborators comply with these Terms
We may disable sharing features that are abused or that create legal or security risk.
9. Your content
You retain ownership of content you save in Trovepile. You grant us a limited license to host, process, back up, and display your content solely to operate the service — including syncing, search indexing, AI features you enable, and sharing you configure.
You represent that you have the rights needed to store and share your content through Trovepile.
10. Third-party services
Trovepile links to and integrates with third-party sites and services (browsers, cloud providers, payment processors, AI providers). Your use of those services is governed by their terms and policies. If you enable BYOK, your OpenAI usage is billed by OpenAI under your agreement with them.
11. Availability
We strive for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, outages, and platform rollouts (web, extension, desktop, mobile) may affect access. Current status is published at status.
Features marked as planned, post-beta, or coming soon on our website may not yet be available in the product.
12. Disclaimers
Trovepile is provided “as is” to the maximum extent permitted by law. AI-generated answers may be incomplete or incorrect — verify important information against your sources. We do not provide legal, financial, or professional advice through the product.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trovepile and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service.
Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) USD $100, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product or legal requirements change. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where permitted by law.
These Terms are a customer-facing summary. They are not legal advice. Organizations with compliance requirements should review them with counsel before relying on them for procurement.
